Bandar Abbas Refinery

For preparing a part of the need for oil productions in the country, especially middle distillation materials and gasoline, and easing the export of extra production like fuel oil, Bandar Abbas Refinery has been established with the nominal capacity of 232.000 barrels a day on a 700 hectare ground.
 220.000 barrels of heavy crude oil is prepared and it’s fed from Khark Island by oil tankers, and 12000 barrels of gas liquids are prepared from gas resources in Sarkhoon by pipe line. Bandar abbas Refinery is one of the well developed and biggest oil refineries in our country.
The productions of this refinery are: liquid gas, lead-free super gasoline, jet fuel, white oil, variety of dissolvers, gas oil, variety of the raw material for grease, fuel oil, bitumen, and sulphur.

Bandar Abbas Plant

Bitumen plant of Bandar Abbas refinery has two seprated reactors, each one with its own equipment, which had been designed by Porner, an Austrian company. This plant was able to produce 5000 barrels of bitumen a day, so this unit had been designed only for hard bitumen from the beginning which there is a little need for them both inside and outside of the country. As a result a changing project was started to produce bitumen with the grades of 40/50,  60/70,  85/100, with the help of Porner Company and Pasargad Oil Company in 2004,and late the same year, after  ending the project only by using one reactor the experimental production started, with 5000 barrels a day.

This unit with nominal capacity of 5000 barrels a day is designed by Porner Company, and is installed for Iran National Oil Company by the partnership and investment of Chiyoda and Snamprojetti in 1996.
From among the reasons of not using this unit during the last 8 years we can refer to the shortage of the feed, also the bitumen unit didn’t work. After ceding this unit and barrel making unit to Pasargad Oil Company, the necessary studies began to start this unit by projects unit of the company.
One of the goals of this project was using this unit with its designed capacity.5.000.000.000 RLS was invested for starting this unit which is one of the biggest plans of bitumen plant in Bandarabbas Refinery. Although this unit was established by foreign companies and has the latest technology, restarting it, was done by Iranian professionals. This is a very good opportunity to experience and upgrade the level of our knowledge.
The project was started in 22 April 2005 by Pasargad Oil Company’s professionals and the prediction of ending time was fulfilled in 5 January 2006 by the help of god.
It worth saying there are some negotiations with the builder company, and after continuous visiting of the unit by Porner’s agents they informed us their interest in changing and rebuilding the unit.
Regarding to the ability of Iranian professionals, Pasargad Oil Company used their scientific and technical knowledge instead of foreign companies.
